The first blog by a British prisoner. Variously described as being "obviously extremely intelligent" (Michael Gove), "the most interesting interview I have ever done" (Michael Portillo), and a "fully paid up member of the awkward squad" (Parole Board), I try to generate debate around the moral and political nexus that is imprisonment. Imprisoned between ages 14 to 47, released on Licence in August 2012
Me too done- have signed, how can prisoners who are paying for their crimes not be allowed to vote when we have criminals in Parliament who are voted for by ordinary law biding citizens? Good luck Ben!
Good to see all you above on the petition - please could others sign - we must have at least one name for every prisoner - that means we need to get more than 84000 signatures - we must surely get people like Ben a vote!
Since the general election was called, I have heard politicians talking about health, education, the elderly, defence, the economy etc. So far I haven't heard anyone refer to our prisons. I wonder why....
Indeed I go, I'll pop over there now.
ReplyDeleteOf course prisoners should vote - they are part of our community too.
ReplyDeleteHave signed and am encouraging everyone I know to do so too.
