The first blog by a British prisoner. Variously described as being "obviously extremely intelligent" (Michael Gove), "the most interesting interview I have ever done" (Michael Portillo), and a "fully paid up member of the awkward squad" (Parole Board), I try to generate debate around the moral and political nexus that is imprisonment. Imprisoned between ages 14 to 47, released on Licence in August 2012

It's a Living
Someone on the landing just described me as a "professional prisoner". When I raised an eyebrow, he explained, "You know what I mean..."
Simple Ben, you got ordinary folk and then professional people; ordinary criminals then there are professional criminals; and then there are ordinary prisoners and the ones with class, that is the professional prisoner. It was a compliment I think, take it as such ;)
I don't think it was mean't in the sense that you're a prisoner for money, just that you are thoughtful and fight for your rights, that's all. A Jailhouselawyer type prisoner, I'm sure that's what he mean't.
