Imperfection

There must be a temptation for all bloggers to apply a little polish to their public patina, to give themselves a rather more glowing persona than may be strictly true.

I have tried to resist this, but not with complete success.  There are swathes of my private life which remain from view, and must remain undiscussed whilst what I write can effect my progress.

This is just a gentle reminder that I am human, subject to the normal range of human passions and flaws, and that whilst my voice and position may be unusual, it should not be elevated.

  1. I am quite new to this blog, but since partaking, I personally think that it's Bens ability to satisfy his readership with his 'tales of derring-do', whilst simultaneously keeping his 'nose clean' - one of his most impressive achievements.

As I have said before, this is a game with very high stakes and one false move ( and just a few words in the wrong place in this blog could do it! ) from Ben will see him going backwards, or at best, stuck where he is.

This is something I think people should take into account before they 'over critique' his work ( as some have done when THEY consider he's having a bad day!). He is aware that EVERYTHING he writes will be scrutinised/analyzed and filed away to possibly be used against him at a later date. - This I suggest, is what makes this 'literary juggling act' that Ben makes look easy, all the more remarkable.

  2. We know you are a rogue Ben, and that sort of man always attracts the ladies!

I think I understand what you are saying here, it sounds like you might need to go to the old confession box, get some absolution and repent 'ol boy!

I dunno, Sinners! Where are you going to run to, where are you going to hide?

    Best come clean Ben.

Of course you don't have to use your blog for the purpose. Like someone else said on here; don't ever think you are on your own, we've all sinned, just get it all off your chest and start afresh, believe me it can work, it has worked for me in the past, and I too have still got a way to go.

    Best Luck!

  3. Ben, what a reflective post. Speaking for myself, I feel a compassion for your circumstances. I'm just someone who believes in looking for the best in people and giving credit and praise where it's due, whoever they are. We ALL have things in our private lives we are less than proud of. I'm sure those of us who send kind and encouraging comments don't do so because we think you're a saint, and understand that certain things should be taken with a pinch of salt. I hope you get to grips with the issues you allude to though, and make your peace with people if you need to. God bless.

  4. Honesty is always the best policy, but it has a time and place. Publicly baring all is a double edged sword.

I agree with Jules though, I dont think you are a saint, nor do I consider you 'elevated'. For me it all goes back to the terrible injustice you have suffered for so long.
