Live Debate

The debate mentioned in the previous post will be streamed live on http://www.nutsonline.org/ this evening from 7 p.m.

  1. If you can reach Ben: The sound quality is very poor especially for Ben and the barrister. Tell him to come closer to the mic.

  4. I think they are going to put it on the site at some point over the next few days. Hopefully they will have done something to the recording to fix the sound.

  5. I received the email about the live transmission a day too late- hopefully we can get a transcription?

    1. I believe that the university will put it online at some stage. If they do, will post a link. I haven't seen the debate either!

  6. I watched the debate and attempted to take part in online one later only for my posts to be blocked, I may be in the minority but I firmly believe those who take a life should never be released! I don't believe in death penalty but I do believe in full life sentence, life to mean life!

    1. Apologies for your problem posting- nothing to do with me and I hope you take it up with the sites admin.

Why do you believe in Life to mean life? Let me posit a scenario: an elderly woman gives her cancer-riddled husband enough painkillers to kill him, as he pleaded with her to do so. Should she get literal life?

  7. Having scanned the NUTS Facebook page it's pretty clear that whoever was moderating the page deleted all posts that were against Bens side of the argument...
Not really a slaughter Ben if you've enlisted the soap dodging seamy idealist militant left student brigade to censor any dissent .... Ho hum, déjà-vu !!!!!

    1. Two points. I don't enlist anyone to do anything. Secondly, I'm not in charge of any NUT FB page, and I suggest you take up your complaint with them! And don't be so free with accusations in future, eh?

We won the debate. he initial vote was in our favour, and that majority grew at the end. You can argue that in front of a student audience that was inevitable - so get me invited to debate before more hostile audiences. I will be there....
