  1. Hi Ben,

Long time reader. What's the relevance of Mokurai? And what's your defence against MDT for cannabis?

    1. ah, the cannabis MDT defence is long established, successful; - and commercially valuable. Excuse me from not giving it away here :)

    2. Commercially valuable? Selling a get out clause to prisoners who've failed an MDT for cannabis?
Surely your life license includes a condition (or two) that would preclude you from selling this information to serving prisoners?
Who knows? Maybe your OM is on board with this idea, maybe not , or maybe this is just more of the same egotistical trash that seems to sum up the entire content of this blog recently

    3. Sorry, but if there is a legal defence against a cannabis MDT then...its legal. Doh!

PS. What a repellent attitude you have...sad.

    5. And now you have blown your cover as a truly vile piece of work. Thank you, we can all now judge your comments with proper regard. Doh!

    6. Ps- Ive always been a smart arse, it's not new. Do please keep up....as best your wits allow, anyway.

    7. PS 2 - only prison and probation staff know my domestic circumstances. If what you say is true..... Please explain your willingness to break the law by revealing them, and your oprofessional ethics. We'd love that insight.

    8. Errm, no.. I don't think I will explain myself... Why should I explain anything to you?
Your circumstances are what they are, you are what you are, and I feel no obligation or inclination to explain anything at all to you

    9. Thanks. Keep digging yourself into that hole :)

    10. I don't believe offender managers would routinely concur with selling information on someone they supervise in the probation field unlike others. I also think the comments re Ben's personal circs are reprehensible.

    11. And that from an (ex) screw I believe? :)
There are limits, and Anons comment went way passed them.

    14. If it's been tested in court surely it's on the public record though?

    15. MNC, the name Mokurai means "silent thunder". And Ben was into Zen for over 15 years...

    16. @MNC, not in court, its used at internal disciplinary hearings within prison. Having THC in your pee is not a crime outside of prison.

  2. Mokurai was a Zen monk. Knowing Ben, my first guess would be that it's an homage to him :)

    1. As a teenager I actually took my love of the culture so far as to change my name by Deed Poll....to Mokurai :)

  3. Mmm. Helpful suggestion. Well done there!

Of course, Ben does have a job: he's building up his consultancy in his spare time. I can totally see your point though, this sort of dedication to change for the better for himself and for others really is something we should be discouraging in newly released lifers.

  5. Extract from the "Prisons" section of the website.... This service is initially offered to those with high net worth, whose imprisonment will be inherently more disruptive to their lives.

The costs of this service can be high. The cost of imprisonment can be far higher – in every possible way. Never has an investment in expertise and knowledge been so worthwhile.
    How altruistic!!!! Or perhaps not

    1. How does Ben come to the conclusion that the disruption caused to a prisoner or his/her family life is relative to the prisoners net worth???
Oh, and he then pitches his service at wealthier prisoners!!!
Not exactly noble principles, and certainly not an ethos that Mokurai would willingly endorse with his name I suspect........

Did I claim it was meant to be altruistic?! Nope, its me making a living.
You have no idea how much time and effort I spend doing things for others' at no profit.

      @Anon 8.33am
It's not claiming to be noble, you silly sod. Its a commercial service aimed at those a) who have complicated and professional lives, and b) who can afford it. Criticising me for something *I haven't claimed to be doing for motives I've never espoused is a desperate, silly ploy.
