The Baby Thing...

Did someone really suggest that the story about the dead baby was a weird joke?

Prison humour is lethally dark, but not something I share with you - that was a straightforward telling of a factual event.

The Editor suggested I fill in the blanks, though. The teacher had "borrowed" the baby from her husband, a hospital pathologist. It was intended to be a teaching aid of some kind.

I was outraged and appalled, and went straight into the Education office to kick up a stink. The baby was removed, the lesson continued.

Horrible things happen in prison, and I'd be remiss to remind you of that on occasion. And anyone who thought it was a joke should look to their conscience!

  3. Ben, you blinked!

You should have stayed to find out the points of the 'lesson', with baby geebus in situ.

What was the lesson, by the way?

    "Cookery, with Nigella Harman"?

  4. I think people assumed that it was a joke because its preferable to believe that you were joking than the alternative. If you put yourself in our shoes which would you want to be true?

  5. My spidey senses tell me that it is not true. There is no way in hell that a teacher "borrowed" a deceased child, pull the other one Ben. Starting to lose faith in you, and I mean REAL fast...

  6. I don't know how dark prison humour is, but dead baby jokes are a bit of a thing...though most of them are significantly more tasteless than that.
