A screw - a dog handler - was having a retirement party in the screws’ Mess.
The dog got far more cheers than his handler.
The first blog by a British prisoner. Variously described as being "obviously extremely intelligent" (Michael Gove), "the most interesting interview I have ever done" (Michael Portillo), and a "fully paid up member of the awkward squad" (Parole Board), I try to generate debate around the moral and political nexus that is imprisonment. Imprisoned between ages 14 to 47, released on Licence in August 2012

ReplyDeleteSorry about the sporadic nature of the blog at the moment, but Ben is not in the best of health. Ed.
ReplyDeleteGet well soon Ben, from all of us over at Prisoners Families Voices x
ReplyDeleteThinking of you Ben, keep strong, believe in the positive and get well soon x
ReplyDeleteWhen I take Rocky for a walk people talk to Rocky and completely ignore me :-(
ReplyDeleteYeah, dogs are nice, screws are ... screws!
ReplyDeleteHold tight Ben, wishing you well
Coupled with Ben not being in the best of health, is the fact that, without being 'passed fit' by the doctor for transfer, he won't be going anywhere. Obviously this is not something the prison management have orchestrated, but neither is it something they will be too upset about, as they can now claim to have a bona fide reason for not sending him anywhere.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, prison is one of the worst places you can ever fall sick and I wish Ben a speedy recovery.
....and many screws are dogs!
ReplyDeleteNo kidding. It's a dog. How is a person supposed to compete with that even when they're a thoroughly lovely and charming sort?
ReplyDeleteA person can never compete with an animal
