Freedom V Entertainment

I'm all for liberty. I've fought for the concept all of my adult life. People taking to the streets and shaking off the shackles of oppression are a joy to behold.
That said...I've had a long winter waiting for the Formula One season to start in March, and I'd have really appreciated it if the Bahraini people could have seen their way to suffer under the yoke until the first race was over.
This sounds terribly callous and selfish, I know. But we are talking about FORMULA ONE...Get some perspective, guys!

  1. Would be funnier if we knew you were enjoying it in open as you should be.

  4. Clearly, obviously, ridiculously evidently this is a joke - but were someone to make a joke in such terrible (though, admittedly funny) taste at Ben's expense (or indeed at your own expense) in the comments on this blog, you'd all be jumping down their throat. So, why don't you 'get some perspective, guys!' about the things people say in comments on this blog, if you're so willing to take a joke as it should be taken when it is Ben doing the talking.

  5. @ Anon 9.38pm, I really don't understand your comment, could you possibly say what your saying in a different, more specific way, with examples?

  7. Anon @ 9.38pm - I'm not sure what you mean either. Do you find the joke offensive? You admit it's funny, and the reason I find it funny is that actually Ben is laughing at himself, while also being honest! I can't really think of many examples on here where jokes have been taken amiss. Personal insults and mockery are not jokes though are they so perhaps that is what you are referring to?

  8. The upside to the delay of the start of the GP season, is that it gives the team of British contingent Button and Hamilton, more time to prepare the new car which clearly wasn't ready for Bahrain. - every cloud eh Ben!

  9. Although the flipside to that is that if McClaren win by a small margin the glory of such a victory will be Diminished by the fact it was in part due to luck. I always feel happier winning by skill rather than luck.

In regards to the taste or not of the joke, if everyone seeing it finds it funny, then it is fine. There is no point in finding it offensive just for the sake of finding it offensive. I don't have problems with good jokes aimed at me, its only ones with a snide element or which simply are not funny I have issue with.

  10. I don't agree that if McLaren win by a small margin, it will diminish the victory in any way whatsoever. It is almost certain that before the end of the GP season, all of the top teams will have had their fair share of good AND bad luck. So much of a GP race depends on things like unexpected weather change, safety car deployment at the wrong time for you, and other driver error, that luck will always have a part to play.

  11. Meh, all the other teams will have had more time to prepare as well, I don't see that McLaren can benefit that much by the delay. Anyhow, a win is a win is a win, I don't care how they get it as long as they do! Well, I'd prefer no more actual cheating, but I don't care whether it's skill or luck that does it.
