Employment

So the Government is going to force newly released prisoners without jobs to enrol upon their schemes for
the long term, intractable, unemployed. Should we decline this kind offer, we lose our benefits.
It obviously hasn't occurred to them that the reason we are unemployed isn't related to interview techniques or presentation. It has everything to do with employers not wanting to take on people with criminal records.
And there just isn't a course run by the JobCentre that addresses that social attitude.

  1. To be fair, it's no impossible to get a job after release. It's hard work, and if you lie you get thrown back inside, potentially, but it can be done.

  2. This spells trouble for everyone. Making ex prisoners work for nothing or next to nothing means taking a job from a person who used to do the very same work for a living. Its a problem for us all, its as if prisoners are being used as a way of reintroducing slavery.

    The worst thing about this is that, when challenged, the organisers genuinely do not appear to see the problem.

  4. I think the organisers are trying to play the general lack of knowledge people have of their legal rights. Every person who took part in that exercise is entitled to full payment for the time they spent there, and would receive it without question if they pursued it to the employment Tribunals. Also, if they are not suing in order to get the Olympic work, the people should be aware that they can wait and see if they get that job, and if they don't sue for the money owed during the pageant.

    The company is behaving disgracefully and trying to make savings by assuming that people do not put up a fight. Unfortunately this seems to be becoming more and more common (a recent example in my life was a friend being sent a camera that was worse than the one she ordered with a claim her order was out of stock and claim it was equivalent).

  6. There is a bit about this on the daily mail website today. They are doning this to the sick too. Atos are declaring people with really serious illness "fit to work" prople don't just get better because they have been invited to an interview.Our local job centre has been nicknamed "Lourds".

  9. Assessment is a very important part of life centered career education. It includes various assessment devices along with the requirements for testing. Overall, life centered career education opens up opportunities for growth and personal satisfaction to the people who participate in these programs.
